With a few changes and some additional functions, Talking Tom Cat 2, an interactive voice-recognition app, brings more cuteness to your Android device.

The opening screen of Talking Tom Cat 2 has many of the same elements as the original, but now Tom is set up in his own apartment with a new nemesis, Ben. The graphics are just as good in the second version and the onscreen movements are very fluid. The talk function is there again and Tom can repeat anything you say in his distinctive voice. He'll also reflexively react when you poke or swipe certain parts of his body. If you try pulling his tail for example, he'll react defensively. For even more fun, you can dress up Tom in clothes, costumes, and accessories. At times, the humor is a bit juvenile, but there's nothing really offensive here and Talking Tom 2's only goal seems to make his owner laugh. The app can be installed on lower-tier smartphones that have limited graphics, although a few hiccups might occur, but it works best on devices with full graphics capabilities.

There's more to do here than in the first Talking Tom Cat and, although it might not have seemed possible, they've upped the cute factor even more. We highly recommend this app to anyone who needs a quick laugh or fun diversion during down time.

Unlocking your phone FBI-style with a fingerprint seems like a neat idea, but it's harder than it looks. Fingerprint Lock Screen tries to play on that idea to prank your friends, but it doesn't even work very well at that. If you can even get past the ads to try to set the app up, it's buggy and can be easily worked around.

The app claims it can fool your friends into thinking your phone recognizes your fingerprint. How it's supposed to work is that you scan the image of your fingerprint and add your name so your phone recognizes you. However, the setup process is so loaded with pop-over ads that you can't even scroll through the menu. Anytime you exit out of one, another pops up within seconds. If you can make it to the launch application button, Fingerprint Lock Screen brings up a neat screen that looks very futuristic. However, tapping any of your phone's physical buttons will take someone trying to get into your phone to the home or app screen.

Fingerprint Lock Screen may seem like a neat idea, but it falls flat on its face. It's almost impossible to set up correctly and when you do, it doesn't work. This app isn't worth your time and effort when there are dozens of other apps that will prank your friends without incredibly obnoxious ads

Just in time for Windows 8, Skype has now just released a major version update that adds improved integration with Microsoft and Facebook accounts, better messaging, and some minor changes to the user interface.

For those of you who've been living under a rock, Skype is one of the the most popular video chat and voice calling clients amongst our users as well as the world. It offers free calls to other Skype users over the Internet as well as very affordable rates for calling landlines and phones.

Version 6 brings a much simpler registration process, particularly with more integration with Facebook and Microsoft accounts. Now you can sign in with either Facebook or Hotmail and automatically use that as a Skype log-in. The previous version briefly incorporated Facebook features; its synchronization is much more apparent in the latest release. User contacts seemed to sync with profile pictures from more sources and the overall interface also looked cleaner. It wasn't a drastic overhaul, but subtle things like removing mini-banner ads from the bottom of the contact list and thin outlines over the tabs did contribute to a more modern look.

Call quality is still variable, depending on your connection and setup, but our experiences have been very positive. This version seemed more focused on casting a wider net and reducing the barrier to entry to an already excellent service and easing registration woes as new platforms emerge. If you've yet to try out Skype and you're looking for a worthy VoIP client, look no further and click on the green download button.

Torch Browser is a truly a media powerhouse. There's an integrated torrent client, download accelerator, and media grabber. The torrent client opens up in a new tab and has a bunch of basic torrent features. If you are more tech savvy and have a complicated torrent set up, this probably won't replace it. But for those who only torrent once in a while, it's nice to have a client built right into the browser. Users will be able to view info, peers, files, trackers, and more with the Torch Browser torrent client.

The download accelerator claims to speed up downloads and it does work. Our downloads completed quickly and at a higher priority. The differences weren't night and day but were still noticeable.

The media grabber is used to download music and video from across the web. While YouTube worked fine, Torch Browser wasn't able to grab media from Vimeo. It's nice that Torch Browser keeps things simple by only downloading web video in Flash format but it'd be nice to see an option in Torch Browser to choose a format, instead of having to convert them afterward.

Torch Browser also integrates Twitter and Facebook with its "Share" button. This makes it easy to blast off a tweet or Facebook update but you won't be able to browse your notifications or posts. It's simply for sharing a though or link quickly.

Overall, Torch Browser is a great browser for users who download lots of media over the web.
